Minneapolis Art-in-a-Day: #GalleryCrawl

Did you miss some of the action from Spark last weekend?

Well, you’re in luck, because this week you’ll get to do a #GalleryCrawl at some of the most involved and best displaying galleries in Minneapolis!

We chatted with our go-to Arts Guru (Blaine Garret, MPLSArt.com) and here are some of the highlights…

1. The “Middle Class Aspirations” show at Gamut gallery  will be their last show at this location as the building is being turned into condos.

It is also the last Colab Art Night where people can come and make art with others.

2. 9PM at Instinct Gallery will present a Special Premiere Screening of Sean Smuda’s film “Gross Domestic Product”  (More Info)

3. The SooVAC double show opened last weekend and got a lot of good press. MPLSArt did a write up.

The “Kulture High” portion of the exhibit features lots of cats and critique on internet culture. Donald Morgan’s exhibition, “Black and Yellow”, will combine two complimentary bodies of work. His concepts are generated from reworking narrative elements from books, a loose process of adapting and re-territorializing text into sculptures and paintings…

Also, showing the night of the crawl will be the InTeRsEcT launch which is a group of teen women launching a social justice group surrounding feminism in art locally and includes a zine. The exhibit will be from contributors and members of InTeRsEcT.

4. The show at Circa should also be pretty interesting. Local design meets abstract art. Local design shop OMFORME is co-sponsoring the show.
